Collecting Bone Marrow and Blood for Possible Enrollment in Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Studies

Phase: Recruiting

Condition(s): Leukemia, Lymphoma

Other Study ID Number(s): Leukemia ONE, OSU-13235

What Is the Purpose of This Study?

The purpose of the study is to collect additional bone marrow and peripheral blood prior to diagnosis of new or recurrent leukemia/lymphoma. The additional bone marrow and blood may be used for research purposes should the patient agree to take part in the research study.

Who Can Take Part in This Study?

  • Ages infant to 31 years.
  • Undergoing a bone marrow aspiration procedure as part of a diagnostic work up for a potential blood or bone marrow disorder (e.g. leukemia/lymphoma) or as part of ongoing evaluation of response to treatment and peripheral blood draw

What Will Happen During This Study?

  • To make an initial diagnosis, an attempt to obtain a sample of 1-2 teaspoons of bone marrow must occur.
  • If the patient has new or recurrent leukemia/lymphoma, or another disease involving bone marrow, patients may be eligible to participate in other clinical studies that require bone marrow samples.
  • For the additional research samples for this study, an additional 2-3 teaspoons of marrow will be collected.
  • 2-3 teaspoons of blood will also be collected.
