Melanie Kennedy, MD
2017-2018 Sports Medicine Fellow
Melanie Kennedy, MD, is our Sports Medicine Fellow for 2017-2018. She grew up in Westerville, OH and is excited to be back in her home community providing care to the children and athletes of Columbus. In her youth, Dr. Kennedy played soccer and softball and continues to be an active runner. As a seasoned athlete, she suffered sports injuries herself sparking her interest in the field. Dr. Kennedy attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate training and medical school and is a devoted Buckeye. She completed her residency training in Pediatrics at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center with additional experience in Pediatric Sports Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Kennedy worked as an Urgent Care physician prior to fellowship and served as a team physician for a local high school.
Dr. Kennedy’s research interests include injury prevention and sports nutrition. She is an active member in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Kennedy will be a team physician for Lakewood High School and Ohio Dominican University and looks forward to becoming a member of the sports medicine community.
