Allergy Immunology Fellowship Experience

Clinical Experience

The Allergy Immunology fellow will gain pediatric experience through rotations at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Allergy Immunology department, and will gain adult clinical experience primarily from The Ohio State University Medical Center. The fellow will benefit from each institution being a tertiary level medical center where a full complement of allergic and immunologic cases are seen.

Research Experience

The goal of the fellowship’s research training is to allow fellows to pursue a project in their area of interest while providing them with a high quality experience that fosters intellectual development. We are committed to providing whatever support is necessary to allow our fellow to be successful in their research careers.

In their first year, fellows are expected to select a research topic and mentor, and to develop their research proposal. It is also expected that each first-year fellow will submit one clinical manuscript within their first year.

In their second year, fellows are expected to obtain preliminary data in order to develop an abstract for presentation to a national meeting such as the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, or the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Prior to graduation it is expected that the fellow will have a manuscript suitable for publication.
