Pediatric Surgery Rounds (Nationwide Children's NICU)

The NICU and pediatric surgery teams co-round on a preselected panel of patients with active surgical issues every weekday morning. Co-rounding facilitates a cohesive management plan and communication with the family.

Weekly

Fellow Education Day

On Wednesday afternoons, fellows are excused from clinical duties to attend mandatory educational sessions including grand rounds, journal club, case conference, morbidity and mortality review, physiology conference and professional development. Fellows do not take call on Tuesday to ensure that all can participate in these Wednesday education opportunities.

Cardiology (Nationwide Children's NICU)

The NICU team meets with the cardiology consult service weekly. The plan for each patient is coordinated between the NICU team and the cardiology consultants.

Pulmonology (Nationwide Children's NICU)

The NICU team meets with the pulmonology consult service weekly. The plan for each patient is coordinated between the NICU team and the pulmonology consultants.

Intestinal Motility (Nationwide Children's NICU) The NICU team meets with the intestinal motility consult service weekly. The plan for each patient is coordinated between the NICU team and the intestinal motility consultants.
Neonatology Nephrology (Nationwide Children's NICU) The NICU team meets with the primary neonatal nephrology consultant every week. The plan for each patient is coordinated between the NICU team and nephrology.

Monthly

Research Training Series

The institution offers monthly conferences geared to trainees that address topics including planning a research study, mentorship, biostatistics and writing a manuscript

Fetal Board Care Planning Conference

These conferences are multidisciplinary education opportunities held in partnership with our specialists where upcoming and recently delivered fetal cases are reviewed. Multidisciplinary care planning, education and literature review is a critical component of our fetal consultation process.

Quarterly

MFM-Neonatology Conference

This conference is held four times a year in conjunction with the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at OSU Wexner Medical Center. Cases and topics of mutual interest are identified for presentation and relevant literature will be reviewed.
