Study of Moods and Coping Strategies in 10- to 14-Year-Old Girls

What Is the Purpose of This Study?
The purpose of this two-year study is to understand how life stressors in young girls affect mental health and how depression and anxiety develop to advance prevention strategies.
Who Can Take Part in This Study?
- Females 10-14 years old who have experienced adversity or stress
- No braces or metal in their body
- No history of mood disorder or other severe psychiatric illness
- Parent willing to also participate
What Will Happen During This Study?
At baseline, year 1, and year 2, both parent and child will complete:
- Virtual interviews and questionnaires
Additionally, the child will complete:
- Two weeks of short, daily phone surveys about mood
- MRI and cognitive testing to measure the brain
Will We Be Paid for This Study?
Yes, children and parents will be paid for their time.
