Researchers Studying the Brain and Self-Harm in Teens Ages 14-17

What Is the Purpose of This Study?

The Longitudinal Trajectories in Understanding Self-Injury (LoTUS) study is to learn about how repetitive negative thinking is related to self-harm and the brain in teens.

Who Can Take Part in This Study?

Teens who may be eligible:

  • Are between 14-17 years old
  • Have engaged in self-harm in the last month
  • Have access to a mobile device
  • Are fluent in English

What Will Happen During This Study?

Youth will complete brief clinical evaluations, surveys, and 3 MRI scans over 8-12 months. All study activities except for the MRI can be completed virtually.

Will We Be Paid for This Study?

Yes, participants will be compensated for their time.
