What Is the Purpose of this Study?

The purpose of this study is to find biological clues or indicators (biomarkers) of what causes urinary tract infections (UTI).

Who Can Take Part in This Study?

  • Children with active urinary tract infections and history of urinary tract infections
  • All ages and genders

What Will Happen During This Study?

Urine and serum samples will be collected from children with active urinary tract infections and history of urinary tract infections.

Under the direction of Christina Ching, MD, the Ching Lab uses a mouse model of infection to understand the host response to urinary tract infection. In addition, the lab performs in vitro simulation of infection and collects human urine samples to look for differences in components of the urine in those individuals susceptible to infection.
