What Is the Purpose of this Study?
Help researchers understand how individuals with prune belly syndrome move their bodies during everyday life. The study will investigate walking, jumping, sitting, playing and activities of daily living using methods including computerized 3D motion capture.Who Can Take Part in This Study?
You may be eligible if you:
- Are between the ages of 1 month and 99 years
- Have a diagnosis of Prune Belly Syndrome
- Are able and willing to participate. This study includes, but is not limited to, babies and children before and after abdominoplasty.
What Will Happen During This Study?
- This study takes place at the Gait Analysis and Mobility Enhancement (GAME) Lab at 405 Butterfly Gardens Drive in Columbus, Ohio and at the Neuromuscular Physical Therapy Clinic at the outpatient care entrance.
- Participation will include age-appropriate testing which may include gait and motion analysis.
- This testing will include a 3D motion analysis using cameras, computers and small reflective markers on your skin. During the visit you will be asked to sit, walk, play, and complete other activities of daily living.
- You will be asked to complete some surveys about your activity, general health, and mental health.
- The physical therapy testing will also include motor function testing within your abilities. This may include performing various movements such as rolling and sitting for babies or walking, running and balance for adults.
- The number of visits you complete will be based on a number of things, but most importantly, your age and current treatment. Each visit will take between 30 minutes and 2.5 hours.
