What Is the Purpose of This Study?
This study is designed to gather data from children with acute recurring pancreatitis (ARP) or chronic pancreatitis (CP) with the long-term goal of developing a database of well-phenotyped cohort of patients fit for clinical trials. We are also assessing the ability to collect reliable and consistent data from children with ARP or CP through QoL questionnaire
Who Can Take Part in This Study?
People who may be eligible:
- Are under 18 years old
- Have acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) or chronic pancreatitis (CP)
- Have diabetes (DM) or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI)
- Have had two or more episodes of acute pancreatitis, with symptoms improving between episodes
- Have chronic changes to the pancreas identified through imaging, surgery, or biopsy
Eligibility will be confirmed by the study team.
What Will Happen During This Study?
Participants will:
- Complete forms about their health and well-being.
- Have information collected from their medical records, including medical and family history, pancreatitis diagnosis and treatment, medications, laboratory tests, imaging results, and other health conditions.
- Have information such as height, weight, physical exam findings, and pancreatitis-related pain recorded.
- Complete yearly follow-up forms about their health and any changes since the previous visit.
- Allow the study doctor to provide updates about health conditions and pancreatitis-related care during follow-up.
- Continue to have previously collected and stored blood, saliva, urine, or stool samples available for study-related research and genetic analysis.
- Have the option to allow stored samples to be used for future research and future genetic research.
Will I Be Compensated for This Study?
The participant will receive $50 per visit and completed questionnaire.
