What Is the Purpose of This Study?

Looking for healthy adults from 19-75 years old to develop normal values for interpretation of immunological tests in adults with disorders of the immune system (primary or secondary immunodeficiencies).

Who Can Take Part in This Study?

You may be eligible if you are:

  • An adult 19 years or older
  • Healthy with no significant medical diagnoses, particularly immune-related diagnoses (check to see if unsure)
  • Have no chronic conditions that can affect results of immunological studies (check to see if unsure)
  • Not on any medication known to alter immune status or function (check to see if unsure)
  • Have not undergone recent surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or transplantation
  • Non-smoker
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) in healthy range
  • No infections within the last 2 months

What Will Happen During This Study?

Voluntary participation involves blood draw at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. If you qualify you would be eligible to provide a sample once every 2 months (not more than 6 times a year). Your participation in this study would be of indefinite duration unless you voluntarily withdraw or have medical changes that would exclude you from this study. A total of 30-50 cc (1.5-3 tablespoons equivalent) blood will be collected each time. Collections will be performed at a scheduled time at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Outpatient Care Center (555 South 18th St. Columbus, OH 43205). Parking is available and will be validated.

Will We Be Paid for This Study?

Yes, participants will be compensated for each blood draw.
