Roshini S. Abraham, PhD, D(ABMLI)

Biography

Roshini Sarah Abraham received her PhD in Immunology in 1996 on completion of her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in biological sciences, and subsequently completed post-doctoral fellowships in immunology and clinical biochemistry and immunology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. She was on faculty at the Mayo Clinic from 2002-2018 and was a Professor of Medicine, and Laboratory Medicine/Pathology. Since September 2018, she has been on the faculty at Nationwide Children's Hospital in the Department of Pathology Laboratory Medicine in Columbus, Ohio as Associate Chief of Academic Affairs and Founding Director of the Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory.

She is also a Professor of Clinical Pathology at The Ohio State University Wexner College of Medicine and Director of the Jeffrey Modell Foundation for Primary Immunodeficiencies Diagnostic and Research Center at Nationwide Children's. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology (ABMLI) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI) and the Clinical Immunology Society (FCIS), and a Past President of the Clinical Immunology Society (2017-2019). She is a Co-Chair of the ClinGen Immunology Clinical Domain Working Group (CDWG), and the Antibody Deficiencies Gene Curation Expert Panel and the Primary Immune Regulatory Disorders (PIRD) Gene Curation Expert Panel. She is also Chair of the CLSI NBS SCID Document Development Ctte on Updates in TREC-based NBS SCID. She is a Deputy Editor for the Clinical and Human Immunology Section of the Journal of Immunology (published by American Association of Immunologists).

She has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, abstracts and book chapters and received several awards over the course of her career, including the 2019 Carl Joliff Award for Lifetime Achievement in Clinical and Diagnostic Immunology from the Association for Diagnostic and Laboratory Medicine (ADLM), formerly known as the American Association for Clinical Chemistry.
