What Is the Purpose of This Study?
We are currently conducting research to identify genes important for causing congenital heart defects in children. It is our hope that the identification of these genes will lead to new ways to prevent or treat congenital heart disease.
Who Can Take Part in This Study?
All patients with congenital heart disease are eligible although the current focus is on families with multiple affected members.
What Will Happen During This Study?
The study requires the collection of a blood sample either in the clinic or at the time of heart surgery or cardiac catheterization.
