Understanding How Sleep and Brain Activity Relate to Risk for Depression in Children and Teens Ages 9–14
Phase: Recruiting
What Is the Purpose of This Study?
To examine temporal associations between brain activity during sleep and depression symptoms in youth. We expect to find predictive associations between sleep profiles at baseline and emotion regulation and depression assessment outcomes at 3 and 6 months.

- Children must have no history of depression, chronic illness or diagnosed sleep-related issues
Low-Risk:
- Youth between the ages of 9 to 14 years old, with a mother who is willing to participate
- Have no history of depression, chronic illness or diagnosed sleep-related issues
What Will Happen During This Study?
Participants will:
- Complete questionnaires and interviews about moods and emotions
- Children will complete an overnight sleep study in a Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sleep Center
- Complete survey and interview assessments at 3 and 6 months following the overnight sleep study
