COMPARE Study: How Well Do Other Medicines Work for Children With Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) After Anti-TNF Treatment?
Phase: Recruiting
Condition(s): Inflammatory Bowel Disease
What Is the Purpose of This Study?
The purpose of the study is to compare the clinical effectiveness and safety of newer inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) medications in anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) refractory patients with pediatric IBD (PIBD). COMPARE will consist of two multicenter, prospective observational cohorts
- for patients with Crohn’s disease and
- for patients with ulcerative colitis or IBD-unspecified along with a retrospective cohort analysis focused on the long-term safety of these newer therapies.
Who Can Take Part in This Study?
People who may be eligible for this study:
- Are pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients younger than 18
- Have lost response to anti-TNF (tumor necrosis factor)
- Are starting a comparator medication
What Will Happen During This Study?
- Ater screening for eligibility and start of their new medication participants will be assigned to one of the 2 cohorts
- Patients will be administered surveys electronically every 2 months for their first year and every 6 months after the first year for up to 3 years.
