With nearly 300,000 outpatient visits completed in the past year and more than 1,300 staff members, the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion serves as a hub to the largest pediatric behavioral health network of any children’s hospital in the country. Our community-wide system of care extends far beyond our hospital’s walls to reach children right where they are – at home, at school and in the community.
This year, we opened the Institute for Mental and Behavioral Health Research in the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion in collaboration with The Ohio State University (OSU) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and the OSU Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research. Led by Eric Youngstrom, PhD, the institute will stimulate innovative research that will lead to advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric mental health conditions.
Previously known as On Our Sleeves Movement for Children’s Mental Health, the initiative expanded in April 2024 with a new name and mission. As the national leader in promoting mental health for children, The Kids Mental Health Foundation harnesses the expertise of more than 1,000 mental health professionals and researchers at Nationwide Children’s and other trusted experts to develop free educational videos, guides and curricula. To date, more than 18 million people have engaged with the foundation’s materials.
