Olutoye Lab
The Olutoye Lab focuses on fetal and neonatal diseases such as gastroschisis, congenital diaphragmatic hernia and necrotizing enterocolitis. Using surgical animal models, we investigate disease pathophysiology, identify prognostic indicators and explore candidates for surgical intervention. Current projects include a murine model studying pulmonary hypertension in congenital diaphragmatic hernia, a porcine model assessing the benefits of remote ischemic conditioning in necrotizing enterocolitis and a rabbit model aimed at identifying fetuses with complex gastroschisis in utero. Our research spans basic science, translational and clinical studies, including ongoing human projects focused on identifying diagnostic markers in patients at risk for necrotizing enterocolitis.
