Jamie L. Jackson, PhD (she/her)
Principal Investigator

Jamie Jackson, PhD, earned her doctorate in clinical health psychology from The Ohio State University in 2010. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago then returned to Columbus to complete a second two-year research postdoctoral fellowship as part of a T32 training grant in The Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Jackson joined the faculty in the Center for Biobehavioral Health in 2013.

Aisha is clinical research coordinator in the Jackson Lab. In December of 2022, she graduated from The Ohio State University with her bachelor's of science in medical anthropology. Her research interests include psychosocial factors that lead to mental illness, effective cultural coping mechanisms in immigrant families and global health in the context of political, social and economic factors in disadvantaged populations. In Aisha’s spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, traveling and finding new bubble tea spots in Columbus.

Elle Elson (they/them)

Elle received their master of public health in epidemiology from The Ohio State University, along with a bachelor of arts in psychology and a bachelor of science in environmental studies from the University of Cincinnati. Elle previously worked in LGBTQ+ focused clinical research at OSU and now continues their research career at Nationwide Children's Hospital's Center for Biobehavioral Health. Their research interests include health equity and representation in research among historically excluded populations. Outside of lab, Elle loves to cuddle with their cat, Pumpkin, while reading science fiction and fantasy novels and is currently on a quest for the best sushi in Columbus.

Annie moved to Columbus after graduating from the University of South Carolina in May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. Annie is interested in how evidence-based practices in preventative medicine can be successfully implemented into routine health care, and she plans to pursue a medical degree in the future. Outside of the lab, you can find Annie trying different ice cream shops around town or cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals.

Naina Manocha (she/her)

Naina Manocha is a clinical research coordinator in the Jackson Lab. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in April 2024 with a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology. Her research interests include understanding the role of psychosocial factors in the contribution to and progression of mental disorders in children and adolescents. She plans to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology in the future. Outside of the lab, Naina enjoys painting, traveling, exploring new places around Columbus, and spending time with her dog, friends and family.
