Samantha Boch, PhD, MS, RN

Samantha Boch, PhD, MS, RN, is a nurse scientist and principal investigator in the Center of Nursing Excellence and Center of Child Health Equity and Outcomes Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She is also an affiliated faculty member at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, and The Ohio State University College of Nursing. Her program of research centers on the social risk influences of health with a primary interest in understanding and mitigating the consequences of incarceration on child and family health and health service delivery. She has been continuously funded at the local, state, national and federal levels. Dr. Boch is committed to applying her research findings and expertise to inform care and policy and serves as a member on the state-wide Juvenile Justice and Mental Health task force, the Franklin County Re-entry Advisory Board and the Juvenile Justice Coalition.

Amanda Ball, PhD

Dr. Ball is a postdoctoral researcher at the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is a qualitative sociologist whose research is focused on access to health care and health resources in juvenile detention centers in urban and rural counties in Ohio. Her research focuses on social inequity at a systems level, and the use of qualitative methods, including ethnographic, interview- based and archival research techniques, to expand our understanding of adolescent health needs and services. Amanda received her bachelor's degree in sociology and peace and justice studies from Tufts University. She also received a master of arts in sociology, as well as her PhD in sociology from Brown University.

Jazmin Arcé

Jazmin Arcé is a clinical research coordinator for the Boch Lab (Health Justice Lab) in the Center for Child Health Equity and Outcomes Research. Jazmin has experiences in direct patient care, leadership and higher education. Her research interests center around impacting health disparities and ensuring every child receives the best possible care, regardless of their background or circumstances. Jazmin graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and minor in Spanish. She also received a Master of Science degree in anatomy from The Ohio State University.

Syed-Amad Hussain

Amad Hussain is a doctoral student in computer science at The Ohio State University and an associate data scientist at Nationwide Children's Hospital, with appointments in IT-RI and the Center for Child Health Equity and Outcomes Research. With over five years of research experience, he specializes in applying state-of-the-art (SOTA) natural language processing (NLP) to domain-specific tasks, particularly in health care. His expertise encompasses deep learning, machine learning, statistical modeling and software engineering.

Alicia Rodgers, DO, MS

Alicia Rodgers, DO, MS is a pediatrician and child abuse fellow at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she is deeply committed to advancing health equity for children and families impacted by systemic disadvantage. Her work focuses on addressing social determinants and drivers of health, improving care for youth affected by maltreatment and the justice system and creating inclusive learning environments for underrepresented medical trainees.
Dr. Rodgers is the founder of Coffeehouse Chats, a quarterly healing space for underrepresented pediatric trainees, supported by a health equity grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics. She also volunteers with the Center for Family Safety and Healing’s Family Engagement Day, an initiative supporting children of incarcerated parents—reflecting her dedication to advocacy and community-centered care.
She was recognized as Resident of the Year in Pediatrics (2025) by both the American Osteopathic Foundation and the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians for her leadership and equity-driven contributions. A proud native of central Ohio, Dr. Rodgers continues her training and service in her hometown and is excited to join Dr. Boch and the Health Justice Lab to advance equity-driven research and policy in pediatric care.

Alexandra Price, CPNP-PC, PMHS

Alexandra Price, CPNP-PC, PMHS, has been a pediatric nurse practitioner with the Adolescent Medicine Division at Nationwide Children's Hospital since 2018 and co-medical director of the Franklin County Juvenile Intervention Center since 2022. She provides care for youth within the facility as well as an outpatient clinic for youth and young adults with disordered eating/malnutrition. Alexandra has been a member of the Health Initiative for Justice Involved Families Committee since 2021, with special interest in juvenile justice advocacy and advancing health equity while reducing health disparities for justice-involved youth.

Andre Davis
Children of Incarcerated Parents Coordinator

Andre Davis serves as the Children of Incarcerated Parents Coordinator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he advocates for meeting the medical, behavioral health, social and resource needs of youth impacted by parental incarceration. Dedicated to bringing light to this often-hidden epidemic, Andre provides consultation and training to hospital staff to help them better understand and support children experiencing trauma associated with a parent’s incarceration.
A graduate of Ohio University, Andre is committed to helping parents, professionals and communities become more trauma-informed and to fostering healing and resilience among children of incarcerated parents.
