Contextual Factors Associated With Suicide Rates in the United States

This study examined spatial and temporal trends in suicide rates and how contextual-level factors are associated with suicide and vary across the rural-urban continuum. Suicide rates increased during the study period, especially in rural areas, where deprivation had a disproportionate negative association.

Mapping Suicide Rates in Ohio

This ecological study identified high-risk clusters of suicide in Ohio and assessed area-level factors associated with high-risk clusters. Nine spatial clusters and two space-time clusters were identified, and higher socioeconomic deprivation and lower provider densities were associated with suicide clusters.

Rural and Urban Differences in Youth Suicide

This study examined longitudinal trends in county-level suicide rates in youth aged 10-24 in the United States across the rural-urban continuum. Rural suicide rates were nearly double those of urban areas for both males and females, with the disparity widening over time.
