Michael F. Perry, MD, is section chief of Hospital Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s and an associate professor of pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Perry attended medical school at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton and completed his pediatric residency training, including an additional chief resident year, at Nationwide Children's. He is board-certified in pediatric hospital medicine and pediatrics. His academic interests include diagnostic excellence, situational awareness and quality improvement.
Q & A With Dr. Perry
- What inspired you to become a pediatric hospitalist? I always enjoyed the acuity and pace of inpatient medicine. One of my favorite things about being a pediatric hospitalist is the wide variety of patients and conditions I get to care for each day.
- What do you find most rewarding about your work? It’s always rewarding when we can turn uncertainty into a clear and shared plan with patients and families. There is nothing greater than seeing a child improve over the course of a hospitalization and getting to discharge them home!
- Favorite children's book? Right now, my favorite books that I read to my daughters are Good Morning, Farm Friends and Little Blue Truck.
- Last great podcast you enjoyed? The Stuff You Should Know podcast is a personal favorite for its wide range of topics with great storytelling.
- Favorite place you've traveled? Italy
- What’s your favorite food? Homemade ravioli
- Favorite thing you’ve bought this year? My favorite purchase this year has been the equipment needed to make my own maple syrup from trees around our house.
