Alex Rakowsky, MD, is an associate professor at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and an attending in the Primary Care Division at Nationwide Children’s. His clinical work is primarily with residents at the Olentangy Primary Care Center continuity clinic, where he has been for 22 years. Dr. Rakowsky also serves as the medical director of the Healthy Children service line at Partners For Kids® (PFK), the nation’s largest pediatric accountable care organization. Prior to his work at PFK, he served as chair of the Institutional Review Board at Nationwide Children’s for 10 years and later as one of the pediatric residency program’s associate directors for nearly a decade.

His passions include resident education, particularly advancing early literacy in patients, especially those in non-English speaking families; increasing awareness about and knowledge on how to combat food insecurity among the families served by Nationwide Children’s; and incorporating robust advocacy and mental health education into the resident curriculum. Through his clinical work with residents, Dr. Rakowsky serves on several national committees including the Academic Pediatric Association Continuity Clinic Special Interest Group. He was also among the authors of the recently released third edition of the Manual for Continuity Faculty.

At PFK, his work focuses on increasing well-known child visit rates in the over 40 counties covered by PFK. He is also actively involved in Outcomes Acceleration in Kids (OAK), a statewide initiative focused on making Ohio the healthiest state for children in the country.
