Respiratory Therapy Residency Program

Nationwide Children’s Hospital welcomes new graduates to our Respiratory Therapy (RT) Residency Program. Our RT program integrates new respiratory therapists into the culture and values of Nationwide Children’s. It was developed on the belief that creating a safe place to learn facilitates a sense of community and belonging.

This program provides an individualized precepted orientation, guided classroom learning and peer support sessions. By supporting the transition from novice therapist to advanced beginner respiratory therapist, the residency program builds upon the knowledge and experience gained during academic study. Through evidence-based care, diagnostic interventions, disease management, and education, the respiratory care professionals at Nationwide Children’s improve lives and ensure best outcomes when everything matters.

In addition to the hospital and unit/area-based orientations, our RT residency team will provide educational experiences and hands-on practice with skills and simulation.

Nationwide Children's Respiratory Therapy Residency can help you feel more empowered and increase your career satisfaction by:

  • Increasing confidence, competence and critical thinking skills
  • Strengthening communication and organizational skills
  • Facilitating interprofessional relationships
  • Improving patient care outcome knowledge
