Timothy C. Robinson: Chief Executive Officer
Tim Robinson is the chief executive officer of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Named one of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine, Mr. Robinson first joined Nationwide Children’s in 1995 and served as the hospital’s chief financial officer until being named CEO in 2019. His leadership over the last three decades has helped transform the hospital from an important regional children’s medical center into an internationally prominent academic health care system.
Nationwide Children’s is now the third largest children’s hospital in the United States, seeing 1.7 million patient visits annually from all 50 states and more than 50 counties; is a perennial member of U.S. News & World Report’s “Honor Roll” of top ten children’s hospitals; houses one of the National Institutes of Health’s top funded freestanding pediatric research institutes; and operates the largest pediatric behavioral and mental health treatment and research pavilion of its kind in the country.
Just as importantly, under Mr. Robinson’s leadership, Nationwide Children’s has become a national model for the ways a hospital system can improve neighborhoods, boost health and health care access in rural communities, and drive innovation and economic development. Mr. Robinson helped create the Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families initiative, which has helped improve or develop more than 800 units of affordable housing in historically underserved Columbus neighborhoods, supported educational achievement and workforce opportunities. The hospital’s school-based health initiative has become the most robust of its kind in the United States, now supporting the creation of care centers in 32 southeastern Ohio counties.
Mr. Robinson has also championed research, technology commercialization and economic development efforts – 21 companies have been created based on Nationwide Children’s medical and scientific discoveries.
Mr. Robinson serves on the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Board and a number of hospital subsidiary boards, including its physician practice groups and homecare company. In addition, Mr. Robinson chairs the board of the Nationwide Children’s spinout Andelyn Biosciences, and he is a member of the boards of the Children’s Hospital Association, the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association, Children’s Hospitals Solutions For Patient Safety, Rev1 Ventures, Columbus Downtown Development Corporation, OCLC and a number of other organizations.
Mr. Robinson earned his bachelor of science degree from Indiana University, where he double majored in psychology and business administration. He and his wife, Jane, reside in Bexley, Ohio. They are parents to Lauren, Andrea and Jordan.
