Is shoulder or arm pain affecting your volleyball serve or swing?

A volleyball serve and swing analysis can help identify the cause and improve your performance.

Athletes who have pain, weakness or trouble with overhead movements like serving or hitting may benefit from this evaluation.

Common complaints that could lead athletes to a motion analysis may include:

  • Shoulder pain
  • Elbow pain
  • Back pain
  • Hip and/or knee pain
  • Difficulty serving or hitting due to soreness or weakness
What Happens During a Serve or Swing Analysis?

When a volleyball player is referred for this specialty service, a physical therapist will:

  • Evaluate your flexibility, strength and posture.
  • Record video of you serving or hitting (or both) to find your aggravating activity (serving, hitting or both).
  • Analyze movement to find changes in form (these are called biomechanical deviations from efficient mechanics) that may be causing pain or limiting performance.
