Weightlifting Analysis for Injury Prevention and Performance
What is The Purpose of a Weightlifting Analysis?
A weightlifting analysis will provide a comprehensive overview of their form and how it may be contributing to their injury. Patients looking to return to the gym or weight room will benefit from these highly individualized sessions.
What Will be Assessed at a Weightlifting Analysis?
- All desired lifting techniques using video analysis software
- Wrist, elbow, shoulder and/or spine range of motion (ROM)
- Shoulder, rotator cuff and/or scapular muscle strength
- Trunk strength
- Hip, knee and/or ankle flexibility and strength
Personalized Weightlifting Treatment Plans for Every Patient
A personalized treatment plan will be developed for each patient. Each plan is based on performance and programming goals as well as findings from the specialized evaluation. We add specific weightlifting movements to each patient’s therapy plan to help them reach their goals. Findings from the evaluation will also be shared with the patient’s primary physical therapist and family.
Who Should Have a Weightlifting Analysis?
Athletes aged 10 and up can use this evaluation to improve their weightlifting skills or return safely to training. Some patients may require formal physical therapy to manage or control symptoms prior to initiating the evaluation.
If a patient is experiencing any of the following symptoms, then they may benefit from a weightlifting analysis:
- Wrist, elbow or shoulder pain
- Neck or upper back pain
- Low back pain
- Hip, knee or ankle pain
- Trouble lifting due to pain, soreness or weakness
