Nationwide Children's Hospital Medical ProfessionalClaire Stewart, MD, MEd, is a native of Columbus, Ohio, and a graduate of The Ohio State University. She earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, and her pediatric critical care fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. During her fellowship, she also completed a master’s degree in medical education from the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Stewart joined the faculty at Nationwide Children's in 2016. She currently serves as the associate program director for the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program and as one of the associate program directors for the Pediatric Residency program. In July 2026, she will assume the role of program director of the Pediatric Residency program. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine.

Her interests include use of simulation to prepare trainees for acute deterioration; she manages the simulation curriculum for both the pediatric residency program and the pediatric critical care medicine fellowship program. She is the co-director of the Medical Education Advanced Competency through the pediatric residency program and serves as co-chair of the Nationwide Children’s ACT (rapid response) committee.

Dr. Stewart is also actively involved in assessment, serving a past chair of the Multidisciplinary Critical Care Knowledge Assessment Committee through the Society of Critical Care Medicine and as a former member of the PREP ICU Board through the American Academy of Pediatrics. Most recently, she was selected to join the American Board of Pediatrics Subspecialty Board of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
