Rhonda Comer came to Nationwide Children's Hospital in June 2005 as General Counsel and Senior Vice President. She is responsible for all legal issues that affect Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Inc. system and its wholly-owned subsidiaries, including the hospital, foundation, research institute and multiple physician practice groups. Prior to joining Nationwide Children’s, Ms. Comer founded the Legal Services Department at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 1997 and served as its General Counsel and Corporate Secretary until her relocation to Columbus.  

Prior to joining the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, she was in private practice of law and has extensive experience representing hospitals, physicians, and other health care providers in regulatory, transactional, and professional liability matters. Ms. Comer also served as a pediatric nurse for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1980 through 1983.

Ms. Comer received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1984 and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, graduating magna cum laude, in 1980.  She is admitted to corporate practice in Ohio, as well as admitted to practice law in the Federal and State courts of Pennsylvania. She is a member and past co-chair of American Health Lawyers Children’s Hospital Affinity Group and a member of Society of Ohio Healthcare Attorneys (SOHA).
