Homecare System Downtime: What to Expect
Occasionally, technology systems experience unexpected downtime. When this occurs, the Homecare team implements established downtime procedures to maintain continuity of care and support for patients, families, providers, referral sources and internal partners.
If Homecare systems remain operational while another system is impacted, updates will be communicated through ANCHOR announcements, Epic banner notifications and telephone recordings. These communications will provide guidance on current operations and any temporary workflow changes.
Urgent or time-sensitive referrals can continue to be submitted by calling the Homecare main line at (614) 355-1100. If a referral requires immediate attention, callers should notify the representative that the referral needs escalation. The Referral Center will work with the appropriate team to ensure prompt review and processing.
During a downtime event, patients, providers, referral sources and staff may experience longer processing times, delays in electronic documentation or communication, increased call volumes and temporary alternative workflows. These processes are designed to ensure referrals and patient care continue safely and effectively.
The Referral Center remains available during downtime and can be reached by phone, email or fax, depending on affected systems. Questions regarding referrals should be directed to (614) 355-1100. Homecare teams are trained to minimize disruptions and maintain safe, timely and effective care during outages.
