Nicoleta Arva, MD, PhD, serves as chief of anatomic pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Nationwide Children’s, as well as a professor in the Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She pursued residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, followed by two fellowships: first in general surgical pathology completed at New York University Langone Medical Center, and second in pediatric pathology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Arva is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and pediatric pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Dr. Arva's clinical and research interests include transplant pathology, cardiovascular pathology and pediatric gastrointestinal pathology. She has made significant contributions to the field, authoring over 70 manuscripts and participating in task forces that have established clinical guidelines in these areas. Additionally, Dr. Arva serves as a central pathology reviewer for projects sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health. She is also an active member of multiple committees affiliated with professional societies, such as the Society for Pediatric Pathology and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Her dedication also extends to medical education. She has previously served as the pediatric pathology fellowship and residency program director at Northwestern University/Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and she developed innovative learning modules for trainees, earning her multiple awards for these contributions
