Nicoleta Arva, MD, PhD, is Chief of Anatomic Pathology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pathology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, followed by fellowships in surgical pathology at NYU Langone Medical Center and pediatric pathology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Pediatric Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Dr. Arva’s clinical and research interests focus on transplant pathology, cardiovascular pathology, and pediatric gastrointestinal pathology, with a particular emphasis on eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributed to national task forces that developed clinical guidelines and pathologic diagnostic criteria in these fields. She also serves as a central pathology reviewer for studies sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health.
A passionate educator, Dr. Arva previously directed the pediatric pathology fellowship and residency programs at Northwestern University / Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Her development of innovative training modules has earned her multiple awards for excellence in education.
