Expanding Services and Improving Outcomes

Homecare’s mission is to give all children the best life possible at home by providing expert, collaborative, family-centered care. To support the mission, Homecare continues to expand the reach of services while tracking best outcomes. End of year 2023, numbers for each of their service lines showed continued growth.

  • Home Medical Equipment- 22,158 deliveries
  • Hospice- 6,159 patient days
  • Infusion Pharmacy-130,899 doses dispensed
  • Intermittent Skilled Nursing- 6,139 visits
  • Palliative Care- 3,308 visits
  • Private Duty Nursing- 53,650 hours
  • Therapy Services (OT, PT and Speech)- 10,784 visits

The key indicator for best outcomes is recent Quality Improvement (QI) data regarding patient satisfaction, which shows significant progress. As Homecare’s patient volumes have continued to increase, so have the patient survey response rate and overall satisfaction scores. For the end of the year 2023, the survey response rate increased by 85% from 2022 reporting. The average patient satisfaction score (using a five-point Likert scale) rose from 4.79 in 2022 to 4.93 in 2023.

These improvements underscore the commitment to enhancing patient experiences and ensuring exceptional care delivery. When numbers indicate dissatisfaction among some families, Homecare’s team thoroughly examines the services involved to identify underlying issues. This proactive approach allows the team to make the changes necessary to improve service quality, resulting in increased satisfaction scores.

This year, Homecare will continue to track and report on QI data to support the best patient care. This data will be in the Homecare Quality Initiatives Spring Report, which will be in the April MedStat mailing.
