Learn from the Experts at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine

The Athletic Training Workshop is designed for high school students interested in athletic training as well as emergency medicine, physical therapy or other allied health and medical professions. No experience is necessary.

The Certified Athletic Trainer is an allied health care professional that is certified by the Board of Certification (BOC). Athletic Trainers serve as a liaison to the athlete, coach, physician and other members of the healthcare team.

Workshop Topics

  • Introduction to the field of athletic training
  • Enhancing knowledge of common athletic injuries and management
  • First-aid training
  • Hands-on taping labs with lecture sessions
  • Participants also have the option of becoming certified in CPR. (CPR certification requires that students stay until 3 p.m. on June 4.)

Workshop Details

This is a three-day workshop taking place June 3 – 5, 2026. 

Workshop Day 1: June 3

  • 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Location: The Clements Rec Center at Otterbein University, 180 Center Street, Westerville, OH 43081

Workshop Day 2: June 4

  • 8 to 11:30 a.m. (Please note: CPR participants will stay until 3 p.m. on June 4.)
  • Location: Westerville Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, 584 County Line Road West, Westerville, OH 43082

Workshop Day 3: June 5

  • 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Lunch provided)
  • Location: Livingston Orthopedic & Surgery Center, 405 Butterfly Gardens Dr, Columbus, OH 43215

Cost

$150 (additional $10 if taking CPR class)
