The Neurology team at Nationwide Children's Hospital is a recognized leader in pediatric neurological disorders. This is evidenced by the number of externally awarded accreditations, Center of Excellence designations and growing programs. In 2023, we expanded our care for children with complex epilepsy by adding a Complex Epilepsy Clinic at Nationwide Children's Hospital - Toledo. We also expanded our fellowship programming by offering a Pediatric Neurocritical Care Fellowship.

The Department of Neurosurgery at Nationwide Children's provides evaluation and treatment for problems of the central nervous system in patients from birth through 21 years of age and in selected adults with congenital neurological disorders. Our Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Program continues to provide comprehensive care for patients with spastic cerebral palsy and is one of few in the country that performs this procedure with great success.

Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Program

The Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is offered to patients from around the country experiencing spasticity – a condition that causes stiff, tight muscles that can’t be controlled because of a problem with the signals the brain sends (or doesn’t send) to the nerves.

Epilepsy Surgery

Epilepsy Surgery services at Nationwide Children’s involves a team of specialists to care for the clinical, surgical and psychosocial needs of children with difficult to control epilepsy. Epilepsy surgery may dramatically improve the quality of life for these children and is the only potential cure.
