Midwest Pediatric Device Consortium

A new consortium led by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University – the first of its kind in the Midwest – will develop, produce and commercialize pediatric medical devices.

The Midwest Pediatric Device Consortium (MPDC), supported by a $6.95 million grant from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is led by investigators from Nationwide Children’s, Ohio State and the health care centers, academic institutions and industry partners listed below. With the knowledge and support of industry leaders committed to the MPDC, the number pediatric medical devices across the nation will continue to increase.

The grant was awarded to co-principal investigators Cory Criss, MD, chief operating officer of the consortium and pediatric surgeon at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and David Eckmann, PhD, MD, chief executive officer of the consortium and founding director of the Center for Medical and Engineering Innovation (CMEI) at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
