(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Nationwide Children’s Hospital has once again been named to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll at number seven. Honor Roll is a top distinction, awarded to only 10 children’s hospitals nationally.
The 2018-19 Honor Roll designation marks the fifth consecutive year the hospital has received this recognition.
Nationwide Children’s U.S. News & World Report’s 2018-2019 Best Children’s Hospitals specialty rankings include:
Cancer – #5
Pulmonary Medicine – #6
Orthopedics – #9
Urology – #10
Nephrology – #11
Diabetes & Endocrinology – #18
Neonatology – #15
“This recognition serves as evidence of the compassion and hard work of our dedicated staff,” said Steve Allen, MD, Nationwide Children’s CEO. “The external validation reinforces Nationwide Children’s continued commitment to delivering the best outcomes for our patients and their families.”
“The 10 pediatric centers on this year’s Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll deliver exceptional care across a range of specialties and deserve to be highlighted,” said Ben Harder, Chief of Health Analysis at U.S. News. “Day after day, these hospitals provide state-of-the-art medical expertise to children with complex conditions. Their U.S. News rankings reflect their commitment to providing high-quality care.”
The annual rankings recognize the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S. in 10 pediatric specialties. Hospitals received points for being ranked in a specialty, and higher-ranking hospitals receive more points. The Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll recognizes the 10 hospitals that received the most points overall.
U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of children with rare or life-threatening illnesses find the best medical care available. The rankings are the only comprehensive source of quality-related information on U.S. pediatric hospitals.
The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists. The rankings methodology factors in patient outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices.
This year’s rankings will be published in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2019” guidebook, available in stores late September.
