Wireless Motility Capsule Less Invasive Option for Pediatric Patients

Already used for the diagnosis of digestive problems in adults, wireless motility capsules—tiny data recorders that collect information on how food moves through the gut—may also offer an informative and noninvasive diagnostic option for children with gastrointestinal motility disorders, a new study suggests. In the News

Steven Ciciora, MD, third-year fellow, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Nationwide Children's, was honored by the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio with its “Commitment to Excellence Award.” Dr. Ciciora was nominated by a patient's parent, and received the award during the organization’s annual conference on March 21. Dr. Ciciora will complete his fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology this year and join the Nationwide Children’s GI faculty.

Meet Ward Miles. Born 15 weeks premature, Ward received care in our NICU from several services including Neonatology, Neurosciences and the Heart Center. He also received care from GI for problems with keeping food down.
