Nationwide Children’s Hospital announced today that longtime donors Joe and Linda Chlapaty have donated $25 million to support the recently launched Institute for Mental and Behavioral Health Research. The gift will fund innovative research, endowed faculty to recruit nationally renowned researchers, and construction for new facilities.

Gail Besner, MD, Named 2024 Allen Distinguished Scholar in Pediatric Research

Gail Besner, MD, chief of Pediatric Surgery and principal investigator in the Center for Perinatal Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute (AWRI) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, was named the 2024 Allen Distinguished Scholar in Pediatric Research. The award is given in honor of former Nationwide Children’s CEO, Steve Allen, MD, and his role in growing the AWRI into a preeminent research institution.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital announced today Butterfly PAWS, an expanded facility and therapy dog program to support healing, and emotional and mental well-being and contribute to best outcomes for patients, families and staff. To celebrate Butterfly PAWS, the hospital unveiled “Canine Corner,” a special area on the first floor of the hospital featuring seating for families during their visit, animal friends Gus and Junebug and a digital display dedicated to highlighting pups and patients alike.
