John D Spencer

John David Spencer, MD, is chief of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and a principal investigator in the Kidney and Urinary Tract Center. He is also an associate professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Spencer’s National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded research focuses on defining the molecular mechanisms that regulate and prevent infections in the kidney and urinary tract, with an emphasis on the role antimicrobial peptides play in maintaining sterility in the urinary tract.

He earned his medical degree from Jiangxi Medical College, received his residency training at Driscoll Children’s Hospital - Corpus Cristi and completed his fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Xiong’s expertise includes fetal and pediatric cardiology as well as adult congenital heart disease. In addition, Dr. Xiong has significant research experience in cardiomyopathy and heart failure caused by viral infection and genetic defects.

Ed Oberle, MD, RhMSUS, is the Director of the Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Clinic at Nationwide Children's Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Division of Rheumatology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. While he specializes in the care of children with all rheumatologic disorders, his main area of clinical and research interest is in the care and treatment of children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA).

Bhuvana Setty, MD, is a board-certified pediatric oncologist and Clinical Director of the Comprehensive Sarcoma Program. Dr. Setty provides clinical care and trial opportunities for pediatric and young adult patients with bone and soft tissue tumors. Her translational research focuses on better understanding the biology of sarcomas and identifying bettering tools for diagnoses and treatment. Dr. Setty is the Nationwide Children's site principal investigator for The Sunshine Project clinical trial consortium.
