Understanding the Rising Suicide Risk Among Black Youth
A new study, published today in JAMA Network Open and led by Cynthia Fontanella, PhD, principal investigator for the Center for Suicide Prevention and Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, is the first large-scale study to examine multi-level risk and protective factors for suicide among Medicaid-enrolled Black youth with a lifetime mental health diagnosis.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s initiative has marked the 1,000th home impacted through the Healthy Homes program. Founded in 2008 in partnership with Community Development for All People (CD4AP), Healthy Homes is dedicated to providing and preserving affordable housing through homeownership, rental and home repair services in Columbus’ South Side and Linden neighborhoods.

Neil Veloso Named VP for Innovation and Technology Commercialization at Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Neil Veloso has been named Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s new vice president for Innovation and Technology Commercialization, overseeing the hospital’s Office of Technology Commercialization and Innovation Center. Neil most recently served as the executive director of Brown Technology Innovations at Brown University in Rhode Island. He joins Nationwide Children’s on February 2, 2026.

Study Reveals Need to Advance Treatment of Patent Ductus Arteriosus in Preterm Infants
