With Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s racing career coming to an end in 2017, he now looks to extend his legacy off the track with The Dale and Amy Earnhardt Fund at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In partnership with Nationwide and The Dale Jr. Foundation, The Dale and Amy Earnhardt Fund supports Nationwide Children’s courageous patients and their families in the area of pediatric injury rehabilitation, research and prevention, helping patients and families rehabilitate from brain injuries, head and spinal cord injuries, and other physically disabling conditions and injuries.
Paint Scheme with a Purpose
JR Motorsports will support Nationwide Children’s Hospital in a prominent way during the NASCAR Xfinity Series season in 2018. Nationwide Children’s will have five primary paint schemes with the No. 9 team and driver Tyler Reddick this season.
“Our relationship and commitment to Nationwide Children’s Hospital goes much deeper than this partnership,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, general manager of JR Motorsports. “The work they do is invaluable, and we are honored to partner alongside them and be continued advocates of their mission. Theirs is a cause that all of us at JR Motorsports, and our partners, are firmly supportive of.”
This opportunity was made possible by the generous support of one of JRM’s partners, which made a donation to Nationwide Children’s in memory of one of its founders, Carolyn Brown.
Meet Tyler Reddick
A five-time winner across NASCAR’s top-three series, Reddick will drive the No. 9 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Chevrolet Camaro in races at Atlanta Motor Speedway (Feb. 24), ISM Raceway (formerly Phoenix International Raceway, March 10), Auto Club Speedway (March 17), Watkins Glen International (Aug. 4) and Mid-Ohio (Aug. 11). He’ll also carry Nationwide Children’s as an associate partner for the balance of the year.
“I know how important Nationwide Children’s Hospital is to Dale and Amy, Kelley and everyone at JR Motorsports,” said Reddick. “I’m proud to be supporting their cause and it’s been eye-opening to learn about the tremendous work they do for children and their families across the country. I’m looking forward to visiting the hospital and meeting their Patient Champions.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr., Alex Bowman & Tyler Reddick visit Nationwide Children's
They say good things come in threes. That's what patients and families at Nationwide Children's Hospital experienced first-hand when Dale Earnhardt Jr. stopped by with NASCAR Xfinity drivers, Alex Bowman & Tyler Reddick, along for the ride.
During their hospital pit-stop, Dale, Alex and Tyler visited the newly renovated Dale & Amy Earnhardt Activity Room and participated in a re-dedication ceremony for the space. A gift for the joy Dale and Amy Earnhardt bring to patients and staff during their visits and their philanthropic efforts on behalf of the hospital, the room features the following for Nationwide Children's rehabilitation patients:
- framed photos of the No. 88 Chevrolet SS Nationwide Children's Paint Scheme
- A Dale Jr. signed race suit, helmet and car hood
- new gaming systems and games for patients
- new digital screens that can be used for TV and video games and for patients to video chat their friends and family.
