Clinical Pathways Now Online
Nationwide Children’s Clinical Pathways are peer-reviewed, evidence-based best practice recommendations for the management and treatment of medical conditions. The goal of sharing Clinical Pathways is to standardize best practices, leading to the best patient outcomes.
- Clinical Pathways are informed by national clinical practice guidelines and a review of current literature.
- They are meant to complement clinical judgment; they are not meant to be applied rigidly in all cases.
- Clinical Pathways are developed by content experts, including physician and nursing leaders from medical subspecialties, and representatives from pharmacy, respiratory therapy and other allied health practitioners.

New Comfort Ability Program
The Comfort Ability Program was launched at Nationwide Children’s in 2023. This one-day, in-person workshop is designed for youth ages 10 to 17 who experience chronic or recurring discomfort, such as pain, nausea, fatigue, weakness and dizziness. The program teaches kids, teens and their caregivers valuable skills to better manage their discomfort and improve their quality of life. Participants learn ways to manage recurring physical discomfort, connect with other teens and caregivers facing similar challenges and develop personalized plans to enhance important areas of their lives despite discomfort. Improvements are observed in a child’s quality of life within one week of completing this program. Do you know someone who may benefit from Comfort Ability?
