Department of Pediatrics Visiting Resident Rotation

Fostering diversity AND belonging are core values of our pediatric fellowships because we know they are essential to the best outcomes for our patients and our educational mission.

We welcome residents from diverse backgrounds who are pursuing fellowship training in a pediatric subspecialty to apply for our Department of Pediatrics Visiting Resident Rotation. Participants will spend four weeks on a customized, in-person rotation in the subspecialty of their choosing. All of our pediatric subspecialty programs welcome applicants.

Program Benefits

The goal of our program is to expose pediatric subspecialty-bound residents from outside institutions to clinical training in our academic pediatrics program. In addition to providing clinical training and education, our mentorship efforts are designed to support the career development of the next generation of pediatric subspecialists.

  • Four-week customized rotation in the pediatric subspecialty the resident will be pursuing at a free-standing quaternary-care, nationally recognized pediatric institution
    • Rotations are offered March through October with the exact timing adapted to your unique training needs

  • Mentorship by a diverse group of trainees and subspecialty fellows and faculty
  • Guaranteed fellowship interview with the host pediatric subspecialty program during the program’s recruiting season
  • Additional meetings with Nationwide Children’s faculty can be arranged at the request of the resident based on areas of interest (ex. advocacy, medical education)

Program Eligibility

  • Applicants must be in good standing at an ACGME-accredited U.S. residency program and plan to complete training in a pediatric subspecialty fellowship.
  • Applicants should apply in the second year or later during the winter preceding their application to a pediatric subspecialty fellowship.
  • Our program focuses on residents from diverse backgrounds.

The window for rotations is March to October. Once selected, we will work with you to select the exact dates in alignment with your residency block schedule. The timing of the rotation will be subject to completing the necessary licensure/credentialing steps and final approval by your home institution.
