Monica Hoff, MD, is a Pediatric Hospitalist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She earned her degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Hoff joined the Nationwide Children's family in 2018 as a Pediatric Resident and later served as a Chief Resident. During her time at Nationwide Children's, she has been dedicated to improving health outcomes through medical education.
Dr. Hoff has partnered with the Pediatric Residency program to enhance the education of future pediatricians. She has developed and implemented innovative curricula focused on teaching residents effective communication techniques and health literacy. Her work emphasizes the importance of clear communication between healthcare providers and patients to improve health outcomes.
Dr. Hoff is also deeply interested in using simulation education to improve crucial conversations. By incorporating simulation-based training, she helps residents practice and refine their communication skills in a controlled, supportive environment, preparing them for real-life interactions with patients and families. In addition to her educational initiatives, Dr. Hoff is passionate about supporting residents' wellbeing, professional development, and professional identity formation. She acts as a coach, mentor, and sponsor, and she teaches resident coaches how to coach their peers through burnout. Her commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment ensures that residents are well-prepared to provide high-quality care to their patients.
