COVID-19 Testing at Nationwide Children's

With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in our community, we are seeing a large increase in referrals for testing from providers, as well as calls to our COVID-19 Testing Line from parents wishing to have their children tested.

Due to this spike, our call center is experiencing longer than normal wait times. We are working quickly to increase the number of trained call center staff so we can help each caller. We appreciate your patience.

If your child is symptomatic (they are experiencing symptoms):

If your child is asymptomatic (they are not experiencing symptoms):

If my child has a scheduled procedure at Nationwide Children’s, are they required to get a COVID-19 test?

Yes. A COVID-19 test is required 24 hours before most procedures, especially those requiring sedation. Your child’s care team will contact you with more information. Patient families will only be notified if their child tests positive. In those cases, the surgeon and care team will determine whether to continue with the procedure or reschedule for a later date.

Can I get a rapid test at Nationwide Children’s?

Beginning Jan, 13, 2021, our testing site offers a rapid test performed by NP swab. PCR tests will no longer be available at our drive through testing site.

Results may fluctuate based on current testing volume.

How do I get my results?

  • If your primary care provider ordered the test, someone from their office will call you with results.
  • If Nationwide Children’s ordered the test, someone from Nationwide Children’s will call you as soon as your test results are in.
