(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Catherine Krawczeski, MD, physician-in-chief and chief medical officer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, has been named to Modern Healthcare’s 2025 list of “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives." Nationwide Children's is one of only two standalone pediatric systems represented on this year's list.
This program honors licensed clinicians in executive roles who are recognized by the senior editors of Modern Healthcare and selected for their exceptional achievements in driving innovation, improving outcomes, serving their communities, and demonstrating exemplary leadership both within and beyond their organizations.
Dr. Krawczeski has served as physician-in-chief of Nationwide Children’s since 2022. Her role was expanded to include chief medical officer in 2024. Under her leadership, the Department of Pediatrics has grown, a new chief quality officer position has been established, and new chiefs for key service lines have been recruited. Some of her most notable achievements have come in the field of mentorship, specifically of mid-career women in medicine.
Previously, Dr. Krawczeski served as division chief of cardiology and co-director of The Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s. She has been the principal investigator or co-investigator for seven National Institutes of Health grants; author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and abstracts; and presenter at dozens of national and international conferences. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
“Dr. Krawczeski has been known for years as one of the country’s leading pediatric cardiologists, and she has drawn on her remarkable experience to become one of the country’s leading medical executives,” said Tim Robinson, CEO of Nationwide Children’s. “She not only works to advance our clinical care; her approach to mentorship and educating the next generation of doctors has an impact across our campus. Dr. Krawczeski exemplifies Nationwide Children’s commitment to our patients and our hospital team.”
The profiles of all the honorees are featured in the June 9 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine and online at ModernHealthcare.com/50Most.
