Nelson Weichold, MHA, Named Chief Financial Officer at Nationwide Children’s

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Nelson Weichold, MHA, has been named chief financial officer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, effective June 5.

Weichold brings more than two decades of financial leadership experience, previously working in large teaching hospitals and academic medical centers. Weichold most recently served as CFO at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, which includes the state’s only children’s hospital.

“Nationwide Children’s has become one of the country’s premier pediatric health systems over the last two decades,” said Tim Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of Nationwide Children’s. “Nelson’s innovative approach to financial strategy and leadership will allow the hospital to continue deepening and broadening the way we care for children.”

Previously, Weichold served as chief operating officer of the SIU School of Medicine and Multispecialty Practice in Springfield, Ill., and chief financial officer of the University of Miami Medical Center in Miami, Fla.

Weichold will oversee treasury operations, budgeting and cost accounting, financial reporting and revenue cycle for Nationwide Children’s.

Nationwide Children’s most recent chief financial officer, Luke Brown, is transitioning to the role of vice president of treasury and finance.
