Adoption Academy for Prospective Adoptive Parents Offered at Nationwide Childrens Hospital

February 28, 2008

Nationwide Childrens Hospital has once again teamed up with The National Center for Adoption Law & Policy at Capital University Law School (NCALP) to offer Adoption Academy: Taking the Mystery Out of the Adoption Process. This program was developed with the goal to bring information together in a comprehensive and sensitive manner to help prospective parents make informed adoption choices.

Adoption Academy includes three tracks a CORE track that examines issues all prospective adoptive parents need to address; a domestic track for those interested in adopting children in the United States; and an international track for those interested in adopting abroad. The CORE track is recommended for all participants as it lays the foundation for the specialized series, the domestic and international tracks.

With support from Abbott Nutrition, NCALP and Nationwide Childrens, Adoption Academy is available to parents outside of central Ohio. Each class will be simulcast via webinar from the classrooms at Nationwide Childrens to audiences hosted by Akron Childrens Hospital, the Childrens Medical Center of Dayton and Toledo Childrens Hospital. Audience members at these locations will have the opportunity to participate in live discussions with the presenters and class in Columbus.

The CORE track begins March 5 and runs on Wednesday evenings 7-9 p.m. for four weeks as follows: March 5, 12, 19 and 26. The domestic track begins April 2 and runs on Wednesday evenings 7-9 p.m. for four weeks as follows: April 2, 9, 16 and 23. The international track begins April 30 and runs on Wednesday evenings 7-9 p.m. for four weeks as follows: April 30, May 7, 14 and 21.

All classes are held at Nationwide Childrens Hospital Education Center, 700 Childrens Dr. A program fee for each track is $20 for the first person and $15 for each additional person.
