In addition to the 2017-18 Honor Roll distinction, Nationwide Children’s has now been recognized in all 10 specialties for seven consecutive years.

U.S. News & World Report’s 2017-2018 Best Children’s Hospitals Specialty Rankings include:

Cancer - #10

Endocrinology - #13
Gastroenterology and GI Surgery - #12
Neonatology - #21
Nephrology - #9
Neurology and Neurosurgery - #6

Urology - #10

“This recognition serves as evidence of the compassion and hard work of our dedicated staff,” said Steve Allen, MD, Nationwide Children’s CEO. “These rankings reinforce Nationwide Children’s continued commitment of providing the highest quality of pediatric care to patients and families across the globe.”

The US News Best Children’s Hospital rankings highlight the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S. in 10 specialties, from cancer to urology. The Best Children’s Hospital Honor Roll recognizes the 10 hospitals that received the most points overall.

Rankings of the U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rely on clinical data and an annual survey of pediatric specialists from hospitals around the country. Part of each hospital’s score relied on clinical outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, efficiency and coordination of care delivery and compliance with “best practices.” The survey makes up the rest of the score, and asks physicians where they would send the sickest children in their specialty, setting aside location and expense.

More information on the rankings can be viewed at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/pediatric-rankings and will be published in the U.S. News “Best Hospitals 2018” guidebook, available September 12.

“The pediatric centers on this year’s Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll show outstanding dedication to top-quality care for patients and expertise spanning multiple specialties,” said U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. “U.S. News wants to highlight these Honor Roll hospitals that deliver state-of-the-art medical care to children with complex illnesses across a wide range of conditions.”
