Ana M. Mercado, DMD, PhD, is a craniofacial orthodontist in the Nationwide Children's Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Clinic and a clinical associate professor of Orthodontics at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She received her dental degree from the University of Puerto Rico. Her general practice residency and oral biology master’s degree are from The Ohio State University. She completed the dentist-scientist program from the National Institutes of Health, which awarded her a specialty degree in orthodontics and a PhD at The Ohio State University. Her research interests include the oral hygiene behaviors in adolescents with cleft lip/palate, secondary alveolar bone grafting, and jaw orthopedics using bone-anchored therapy
