Juan D. Chaparro, MD, is an infectious diseases physician and informaticist in the Division of Clinical Informatics and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He also serves as an associate program director for the clinical informatics fellowship, and as the Medical Informatics Director for Clinical Decision Support for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Chaparro earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 2008. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Washington University/St. Louis Children’s Hospital Consortium from 2008 to 2011, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego and the University of California San Diego between 2011 and 2014. He further pursued a post-doctoral fellowship in Medical Informatics at the same institution from 2014 to 2016.
Dr. Chaparro’s focus over the last decade has been to improve the quality of clinical decision support systems, both locally at Nationwide Children's and nationally. He is a founding member of the Pediatric CDS Collaborative, a NIH-funded collective including over 10 pediatric hospitals.
